Sunday saw Town Crier Cyril Richardson narrate the first episode of the Hatherton Community Group filming its continuous fight to save Mellish Road Church, which will be broadcast on the BBC Community Channel  Activ8 Project. This is an ongoing series of 12 segments, one of which will be filmed each month over the course of the year and then posted on the  Community Channel website and shown on its TV station. The BBC will then turn  all 12 episodes into a short film on the activities in the Hatherton and Butts area.

The protest on Saturday 25th February 2006 was a great success. Check out the pictures below.

We’ve recently been filming material for our second and third episodes on the Community Channel. In particular, with the assistance of local historian Ann French, we’ve been interviewing local residence about their experiences of the time when the US Army were billetted in the church during World War II. Reference was also made in the film to a scientific study where introducing sports teams into deprived areas of American cities was shown to drastically improve the quality of life for all concerned. This study is described further in Shadow Strategies of an American Ninja Master, by Dr. Glenn J. Morris, the late Soke (Grand Master) of the Hoshin school of esoteric ninjutsu. Pictures from the filming are shown below.
